Jophie - Roles & Responsibilities

Revised on Jun. 13th, for Digital Wall

SECTION 1. Your Role(s)

  1. Interaction and Emotion Design for Game 80%
  2. Presentation/ Demonstration file for the final show 20%

SECTION 2. Your Responsibilities
1. Interaction and Emotion Design for Game

  • Devise how users will interact with the digital wall and how the interaction can trigger users' motivation in short using time.
  • Adjust designs iteratively, based on evaluating user experiences, looking into usability issues and emotion/ affective influence.

2. Presentation/ Demonstration slides or short video

  • Create the presentation (slides or short video by flash) of our future concepts for the final show.
  • Ensure the file can be presented in a clear, interesting and understandable way.

SECTION 3. Your Individual Tasks
1. Interaction and Emotion Design for Game

  • Do design research:
(1). Investigate and observe users' motivations, experience and their behaviours to learn more about them and design for them.
(2). Search for any related examples of interactive wall and game in public space for multi-users.
(3). Devise how users should safely Interaction on the tube platform.

  • Compare, analysis and evaluate the features, current trends and usability of existing projects as improvement references to:
(1). identify opportunities of how to enhance the user experience and provide better emotion to users
(2). apply the design theory into the concept and find better solutions to design for our project.

  • Collaborate with other teammates to define interaction approaches and develop project requirements focusing on user experience and emotionally engaging.

2. Presentation/ Demonstration file for the final show

  • Searching for product instruction and promotional videos to collect ideas of how to present our project in an honest, simple and attractive way.
  • Learning required computer techniques (Flash).

SECTION 4: I wish to be assessed in the following areas:

  • My ability to research and evaluate the features and usability of existing interactive wall projects using the principles I have learnt about interaction design and emotion design.
  • My ability to understand, design and optimize workflow and user interaction, as well as develop the concept into a workable design.
  • My ability to provide solutions to complex design challenges and design within limitations, how to solve the problem of interactivity within a confined space (the underground).
  • As an interaction designer, how I implemented my learning outcomes with proper knowledge and skill to complete my individual responsibilities (for example, understanding the major elements of multiple interaction for game designs, and the flash skills learnt to create the presentation file.)

============================================================

ROLES (old one)
1. Animation & Interaction Designer 60%
2. Presentation Video & Sound 40%

RESPONSIBILITIES
1. Animation & Interaction Designer:

  • Create the required animation for the product interface.
  • Design how users can interact with the product interface in a user-friendly and user-centered way.
  • Based on user goals and experience, evaluating designs iteratively in terms of usability and emotion/ affective influence.

2. Presentation Video & Sound:

  • Create the presentation video and sound for the final show.
  • Ensure the video can be presented in a clear, interesting and understandable way.

INDIVIDUAL TASKS

1. Animation & Interaction Designer

  • Do design research - Investigate and observe users’ needs and their behaviors to learn more about them and design for them. Search for any related examples of products, interfaces or systems.
  • Do design analysis – Compare, analysis and evaluate the features and usability of existing products or service systems as improvement references and find better solutions to design for our product.
  • Learning required computer techniques to create the expected interaction result.
  • Collaborate with other teammates to define interaction approaches and develop product requirements focusing on user efficiency, ease-of-use and emotionally engaging
  • Ensure design is implemented properly by means of prototype testing, keep on modifying any required issues during creating process.

2. Presentation Video & Sound

  • Searching for product instruction and promotional videos to collect ideas of how to present our product in an honest, simple and attractive way.
  • Learning required video and sound editing techniques.

ASSESSED AREAS

  • My ability to research and evaluate the features and usability of existing products, service systems or applications.
  • My ability to understand, design and optimize workflow and user interaction, as well as develop concept into workable designs.
  • My ability to provide solutions to complex design challenges and design within limitations ( how to solve the limitation of sources we can get and how to balance coding problem and interaction design…etc)
  • Being a junior designer, how I demonstrate my learning results with proper knowledge and required skills of completing individual responsibility (for ex., animation, video & sound editing…)
  • As an international student, how to communicate and ccollaborate with other teammates to finish the project.
