A5. Establishing the Design Strategy

Design strategy serves the mission, aims and operational needs of the organisation.
Levels:
  1. Strategic level - response to a situation where an organisation percieves a strategic need
  2. Business level - used to translate the percieved need into a new product or service, process or concept
  3. Design-activity level - how can design contribute at a project level
  4. Project level - it assists the product or service development to ensure that the response to the need is delivered
Design strategy - establishes how an organisation intends to use design, and how design processes can best serve its operational needs.
Design policy - describes the legislation that will support the design process, and involves coordinating the planning and policy information to meet the needs of stakeholders.

Teams to use: in-house or external agency.
